Coastal Cleanup Day 2023 by Heal the Bay
Join Heal the Bay for the 34rd annual community cleanup happening at more than 35 sites across Los Angeles County! Ā Our planetās waters and marine life are suffering from the cumulative impact of an unprecedented amount of pollution, climate change, and harmful human activity. This year, the non-profit invites you to participate in a day of action to drastically rehabilitate the local environment. Choose a cleanup location and join in on fun site activities including live performances, giveaways, and more! After the cleanup, tune in to Trash Talk LIVE, a virtual and in-person wrap show broadcasted live from Heal the Bay Aquarium, to learn how we can keep trash off our local beaches, waterways, parks, and neighborhoods in the first place.
Coastal Cleanup Day 2023 with Ballona Creek Renaissance
Come help Ballona Creek Renaissance stop the trash from going into our oceans! The BCR team welcomes volunteers of all ages for this fun and worthwhile activity where the inland water and incoming tide meet ā a special place of water, fish, birds, and plants ā yet still too much concrete and mostly-plastic ocean-bound trash. The renowned Heidi Duckler Dance company will perform during the event!

Join us for an evening of creative exploration into alternate ways of sensing, knowing, and worlding with our more-than-human kin, facilitated by Shanhuan Manton. It is the first event in the Myco-Maker's Night series, dedicated to working with fungi in community. The facilitator, Shanhuan Manton, is a filmmaker focusing on hacking and composting established methods of cinematic storytelling to alchemize extractive methods of production into regenerative rituals.

The City of Santa Monica's Sustainable Water Supply Program includes a first-of-its-kind facility blending stormwater, urban runoff, brackish groundwater, and wastewater to produce advanced treated recycled water. The program aims to reduce reliance on imported water and increase local water supplies. The facilities can produce up to 1.5 million gallons per day of recycled water, meeting regulatory requirements for groundwater augmentation and helping to achieve water self-sufficiency for the city.
