š¦ FoLARās River Fest 2023
The organization Friends of the LA River gathers a vibrant community of River stewards, provides a variety of ways in which Angelenos can connect to their River like nature walks, writing workshops and yoga sessions, and fosters a community of scientists to revitalize the biodiverse local ecosystem. For the second year, FoLAR is hosting River Fest! River Fest 2023 will feature short environmental film screenings on a large outdoor movie screen, local artists, live music, food trucks, drinks, interactive art and education exhibits, raffles, and more.

The 2022 Energy Code has introduced significant changes for Nonresidential occupancies, from how these occupancies are to be classified and organized within the code to the introduction of new Prescriptive measures facilitating preparation for future Nonresidential all-electric buildings. Join us for this presentation where we review not only the all-electric preparation requirements of the Energy Code, but also PV exemptions. We will also explore preparation for future all-electric buildings in the Energy Code requirements for HVAC systems, domestic hot water and battery storage.

The City of Glendale is preparing a Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), which will serve as a roadmap for the city to reduce its carbon footprint and increase its resilience to existing and future climate change impacts. Glendale is committed to achieving its climate goals equitably by creating an equity framework that allows for the people most impacted by pollution and climate change to share their concerns and help craft policy solutions to reduce the community's carbon footprint and increase resilience. Your participation in the CAAP is critical to identifying climate action and adaptation barriers and challenges faced by the people you serve and developing a CAAP that centers around communities most vulnerable to climate change. Please join us for this virtual focus group meeting to provide direction on the CAAP's equity framework and provide feedback on potentially climate vulnerable populations in the Glendale.

š± Building a Garden at Theresa Lindsay Senior Center

We are helping the senior center rebound after the pandemic. These garden beds were once full of vibrant plants and will be again with our help. Our work will be the start of many projects at the site focused on renovating the center's grounds.We will be divided into teams to tackle various tasks in the garden area. Volunteers will help construct a new garden bed, fill other garden beds with soil and seedlings, or prepare the walkway border for new native plants. Wļ»æe will have a light breakfast at the beginning of the event, and we will serve lunch at the end.

Hear from renowned wildlife camera-trap photographer, Johanna Turner, about her wildlife photography and thoughts on conservation, and get a peak at her technological set-up! Johanna started trail camera photography in 2009, and has since become a huge advocate for wildlife conservation. Professionally, she has filmed wildlife for Disney+, Apple TV+, National Geographic, and has been published in Discover Magazine, LA Times, and several academic journals and books. She is also on the advisory committee for the Cougar Conservancy, which works to reduce human-wildlife conflicts and help preserve mountain lion populations.
