Application for LACI's Founders Business Accelerator Cohort 10 now open (Due Feb. 13)
The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) is actively recruiting entrepreneurs for a limited number of Founders Business Accelerator (FBA) seats. LACI’s FBA increases the economic, community, and environmental impact of small businesses and micro-enterprises throughout the City of Los Angles. During this free 6-month virtual program, founders receive training and individual support from LACI’s Executives-In-Residence and other industry experts. It is a unique opportunity for founders to connect with other entrepreneurs and a vast network of successful LA based business owners and to: create or revitalize a business plan modeled for success, develop new channels to increase revenue, expand customer base, access vital funding resources, research and analyze trending and predictive market data, receive technical development guidance, reduce the environmental impact and cost of doing business, increase your social and economic impact and become a leader in the community. California chefs can apply to the January Chefluencer cohort at the Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) to become a leader in culinary sustainability. 🥕 VegFest at UCLA // UCLA’s Vegan Revolution Week

VegFest is a one-day event within UCLA’s Vegan Revolution Week, a week-long set of events that several other UCLA student organizations (e.g. Plant Futures Initiative, Animal Welfare Alliance, Lives Without Knives) are hosting to unite students at UCLA who are excited to change our food system so that it is better for people, animals, and the environment; some of the other events in our Vegan Revolution Week include a Meatless Monday at the dining halls and Plant Futures Initiative’s career fair for jobs and internships in the plant-based food system and animal rights movement.

Kick off the New Year with Heal the Bay at Zuma Beach for a beach cleanup with a big impact. Heal the Bay guarantees cleanup supplies for the first 300 people who are registered.

Enjoy the Marine Protected Area (MPA) shoreline and tide pools from Little Corona to Crystal Cove by hiking with our experienced hike leaders and naturalists. You will get to see many tide pool species and learn much about the history of this area.

🍄 Exploring the Mycoverse: Who Speaks for the Fungi?
When: Mon, Jan 22nd from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM

An exploration into the mushrooming young field of conservation mycology. As the first chair of the newly formed Conservation & Stewardship Committee at the North American Mycological Association, the parent organization of Mycological organizations around the continent, Aaron will share what they have learned about the current state of fungal conservation and the many ways you can get involved. Aaron will also share about their firsthand experience working with the Fungal Diversity Survey (FUNDIS) on the CA FUNDIS Project, the first ever tax payer mycological conservation project of its kind to map the diversity of macrofungi in California.
